The Leotax F is a 35mm rangefinder camera made by Shōwa Kōgaku Seiki K.K. and introduced in 1954. Heavily influenced by the Leica IIIc and IIIf, the Leotax F offered several improvements over earlier Leotax rangefinder cameras. The Model F uses M39 threadmount lenses and has dual rangefinder and viewfinder windows. The camera features a single PC socket that is located on the back of the camera similar to the aforementioned Leica cameras. A small selector switch on the front of the camera allows changing the flash sync between FP (flash bulbs) and X (electronic flash). Similar to Leica, the Leotax F features dual shutter speed dials with fast speed selector on top of the camera and a slow speed dial on the camera's face. Film loading is through the camera base and works just like a Leica. These are solid and well-built cameras and can offer a decent alternative to buying a more expensive Leica version.
